For Brands & PR: Let’s Test Your Hardware

Welcome to the gauntlet. SelfHostHero is a fast-growing community of sysadmins, homelabbers, and DIY server enthusiasts. Our readers don’t care about marketing jargon or synthetic benchmarks, they care about idle power draw, PCIe lane distribution, and whether your software breaks their Docker containers.

If your company builds Mini PCs, NAS enclosures, networking gear, smart home tech (Zigbee/Z-Wave), or storage solutions, we want to test it. But we do things a little differently around here.

The SelfHostHero Guarantee (Our Rules of Engagement)

We are always open to receiving review units, but to save your PR department and our editorial team some time, here is how we operate:

  • We Test The Hard Way: We don’t just unbox your device and read the spec sheet. We open the chassis. We measure the wattage at the wall. We wipe the stock OS and install bare-metal hypervisors like Proxmox or TrueNAS to see how your hardware really performs under stress.
  • You Cannot Buy Our Opinion: We do not accept paid positive reviews. Ever. If you send us a unit, we will explicitly disclose to our readers that it was provided by your brand, but the verdict is 100% ours.
  • No Pre-Publication Approval: You do not get to read the review, watch the video, or listen to the audio recap before it goes live. You have zero editorial control.
  • Honesty Goes Both Ways: If your hardware is fantastic, we will shout it from the rooftops and recommend it to thousands of homelabbers. If your cooling solution is loud or your stock software is unfinished (we tell it like it is), we will point that out just as clearly.

Confident in Your Gear? Let’s Talk.

We love working with brands that genuinely believe in the quality of their engineering. If you know your new Mini PC has the best thermals in its class, or your new NAS motherboard is perfect for a custom DIY build, we are the exact audience you want to reach.
