Welcome to SelfHostHero. By reading and using the tutorials on this website, you agree to the following terms. We keep it simple and straightforward.
1. The “Cover Your Ass” Disclaimer (Limitation of Liability)
Homelabbing involves risk. The guides, tutorials, and commands provided on SelfHostHero are for educational and informational purposes only. We regularly write about wiping operating systems, flashing firmware, configuring firewalls, and running bare-metal hypervisors.
If you follow our tutorials and brick your hardware, accidentally delete your RAID array, lose your data, or expose your network to the internet, it is 100% your own responsibility.
We test our guides thoroughly on our own equipment, but hardware revisions, software updates, and user errors happen. Always, always, always have a verified 3-2-1 backup of your data before executing any command you find on the internet (including ours). SelfHostHero and its authors are not liable for any damages, data loss, or hardware failures that result from using the information on this site.
2. Intellectual Property (Don’t Steal)
We put a massive amount of time into testing hardware, benchmarking performance, and writing detailed guides. The text, original photographs, and specific code configurations on this site are the property of SelfHostHero.
You are more than welcome to share our articles, link to our tutorials, or use snippets of our Docker Compose files in your own homelab. But do not scrape our site, copy-paste our articles in full, or pass our hard work off as your own.
3. External Links
We link to external sites like GitHub repositories, software documentation, and Amazon (see our Affiliate Disclosure). We do not control those websites. If a GitHub script changes tomorrow and breaks your server, that is beyond our control.
4. Changes to These Terms
We can update these terms at any time. If we do, the new rules apply immediately.
Now, go back up your data and let’s build something cool.
